Tel Aviv was dull, drizzly and we were so tired there was no instant WOW we are in Israel factor!!!
Sderot is where we start our first Negev desert workaway experience. We were picked up from the train station by Maggie and driven to the farm in a rather remote area. Everything on the farm is run by solar, we do have a cottage to ourselves that has a bedroom, lounge, kitchen and bathroom with hot running water. The windows all have mesh for flies, situated on top of a hill with a view of Sderot in the distance.
We hear the jackals and foxes howling at night. We are told when missiles are sent from the Gaza strip towards Israel you will hear & see them hitting Israels iron dome!! You hear all this on the news but never imagine you will ever see it for real. Having said all that, we feel safe here on the farm which has high security gates, electronic entrance codes and night security guards.
Already, after only 2 days this part of Israel reminds us so much of Uganda
