Negev Farm 🐑 🐏 🐑

Our day starts rather early .... between 5.30-6am when we go to the sheep shed, get the dogs,  unlock security gates, feed the sheep barley and then walk the sheep down to the paddock where they graze for 3 hours.
The greatest threat are the jackals & foxes who want to eat the sheep plus the Bedouin neighbours who try to steal the sheep.
We have to watch over and guide the sheep around the large open areas with the dogs, the paddocks are huge.   We can see the foxes & jackals on the hills nearby but are assured that both we & the sheep are safe 😉.
Of course, not being a morning person it is hard to get up so early  but it really is amazingly quiet, cooler and relaxing time of the day.
We head back to the sheds after 3 hours just as the heat of the day starts to kick in.
We have breakfast and mostly have the day to ourselves, we can offer to do extra jobs but we are not really interested in this heat!!
The sheep are undercover during the day, the wind gives a lovely breeze but creates lots of dust, thankfully the lounge & bedroom in our cottage have air conditioning if we want to use it ... phew!!!
At 4.30-5pm we do the same routine and head out with the sheep again

it's pretty dry here but not too much different from a Hawkes Bay summer drought!!!
