After 15 hours Dubai to Washington DC, a 2 hour stopover, which was supposedly a transfer to a new plane, turned out to be spent entirely in the customs department, which was overpopulated and understaffed at the time, so we made it to our Washington DC - LA flight with 10minutes to spare. Oh well at least we didnt have to wait in the airport!!
Arriving at LA at 10.45am 45 minutes early and out fast (no customs this time, just collect bags and leave) we waited for 30minutes before Laura (from one of the missions team) Betsy and Spencer picked us up and then first stop IN AND OUT hamburgers for lunch!!!
Down to stay at Laura's house in Orange County.
Did the shopss visited hollywood and sunset boulevard, dinner at Hollywood by the stars strip footpath and lots of bling everywhere. Went to didi reeces for dessert (biscuits put together with icecream filling YUMMY) no chance of keeping the weight lost in Africa off in a place like LA. The is takeaway country!!
Headed to meet up with team from Masters College, did the college tour, by Steve Crawford and Hugh Jackson, got lunch at the cafe (think they are trying HARD to convince Zach to study in LA at the Masters College.hmmm............
Great time with all the team, Allison flew in from Seattle for 4 days and Amanda drove down the coast so it was so neat to see everyone (apart from Jeanette that had a family wedding) for the weekend and catchup. Lots of fun, laughs and takeaways.
Went to Magic Mountain and did the rollercoasters with Ted, Becky, Megan, Courtney and Betsy, kids and Deane had fabulous time, not so great for my back, lucky Beckys dad is a chiropractor!!!! Full day fun
Off to Grace Community Church sunday am and listened John MacArthur then out for lunch with team from Grace missions team.
Lots of food, DRIVING and boy is LA barren, we are so surprised at how barren and dry and desertlike it is, not much different from Dubai, totally different from the green lush countryside of Uganda.
Monday laxing and sleeping in at Orange county, planning the next weeks events so watch this space..........................
