MUKONO - TUESDAY FEBRUARY 5th
Well Deane woke up without the high fever today BUT had diahorrea!!! He had eaten some local nuts and corn and was feeling miserable – I made him stay in bed all day - tried a couple of times to get up and do stuff but just had no energy. He is getting really frustrated and feeling a bit down with not being able to do too much. Bri was up and down with high fever on and off – boy nursing was a skill I never wanted to learn but which I am learning very fast along with PATIENCE which isn’t my forte either!!!
Just found out that the internet is now going to be connected Friday lunchtime!!! Again I am learning to have loads of patience.
Anyway Zach has been amazing, cooking bread every day and today made tomato salsa, which is a task in itself when all vegetables to be eaten raw need to either be boiled or sprayed/soaked in a low strength ammonia/bleach (guess janola will do) imagine soaking and eating lettuce, don’t think we will be doing too many salads.
Sam bit quiet today, he just “hanging around” REALLY missing his drums. Deniece from SOS lent Sam an Uganda bongo drum, but its not quite the same only having one drum.
We had kidney beans, nachos for dinner (kindly supplied by Deniece as that was what she was cooking down at the Hurleys house, very quiet night, Bri perked up a bit and the boys went to a movie night down at the Hurleys.
I find the day goes quick but there is heaps of domestic work involved, hopefully we will be getting some Ugandan help next week – its just takes so long when you have to boil water all the time and there are always heaps of dishes with doing all the cooking but there are no time frames YET and life here is so simple.
