MUKONO – MONDAY FEBRUARY 11th
Deane was away overnight Friday, returned Saturday after attending the first Ugandan SOS Ministries board meeting. They stayed at the Golf Hotel in Kampala, and enjoyed the luxury. They had long meetings but enjoyed meals out and the tenpin bowling fun activity! He arrived home late Saturday rather weary but thankfully he has recovered from the illness that had kept him out of action for some time.
Sunday was a very busy day - church at the Hurleys house then lunch with everyone – 25 altogether, the number of people seems to increase each week. We had a break in the afternoon and met for dinner at the Hurleys again – Sunday is Danielles day on for cooking, although I help then Wednesdays we are going to have everyone here each week for dinner before our weekly meeting.
SOS Ministries youth group met for the very first time last night – the arrival of our family increased the numbers 25% so it was decided to get something up and running for the kids. 12 turned up with some locals also which was great.
Deane and I spent the evening chatting with Danielle and Shannon and getting to know each other. It was a very enjoyable evening.
We are off to Kampala today, have no food in the house and desperately need to do a grocery shop and get some more fruit and veges. I think I will try and get enough for 2 weeks as we seem to go through heaps of food and never have a vehicle available when needed. Hopefully Deane and Shannon will have the OK on a vehicle for us on Wednesday, then it could take 1 week to get all the paperwork etc finalised!! I am learning that you just have to be patient and wait!!! Not my forte!! Bri is heading down to the local hotel with some friends from this village to go swimming, not that the weather is that great.
We still do not have internet.
Zach decided as part of his TIM (Computer text and information management) that he would get a boda boda (motorcycle taxi sort of thing) down to Mukono and msn with his friends. He has to walk down the road through our village (about 15 mins) then catch a bodaboda on the main road into Mukono (5mins away).
