MUKONO - SATURDAY FEBRUARY 2nd
Deane slightly better today– had breakfast and met at Hurleys 9.30am, left kids with others at the house for the day and headed to Kampala – collected our Celtel ph SIMcards, we did internet cafe thing for hour while Danielle and Shannon had a meeting then we went to Japanese restaurant for yummy lunch. Then we had the first official SOS Ministries Relocation Project Meeting with a guy 45 minutes west of Kampala – driving and roads, WHAT CAN I SAY unbelievable! People live, move, sit and walk anywhere and everywhere here.
Meeting at an Orphange Minsitry (Raffekkee west of Kampala which was really interesting and informative but boy could the guy talk, we arrived at 2.45 and left at 5.30pm and I don’t think he stopped talking the whole time, but he was very helpful and informative with information for ideas for the SOS project.
Meet a really neat American couple that lived and worked here – Tyler (Dr) and his wife Kim. They were extremely hospitable and helpful with local knowledge and things to see and places to go – Speke Resort apparently would be a great place to take the kids for a day of fun and entertainment – large swimming pool, horse riding etc and a great place and opportunity on the weekends for the kids to meet European teenagers also.
Deane and I were really exhausted by now and Deane was going down hill quickly.
Arrived home for dinner at 7pm went home showered and to bed early, kids had a great day and went down to the local village to meet up with Mark (the young guy that Deane helped extend his house last time he was here in 2007) and having great time, I think.
