Today we took the light rail to the Damascus Gate at the Old city, then #275 bus to the Mt of Olives
we walked down the hill to the to Garden of Gethsemane, it was quite surreal being here, the olive trees were sooooo old & amazing
Frustrating how at every holy site you visit their has been a church or mosque plonked along side π
We then entered the Old City through the Lions Gate, wrong timing, the call to prayer was all you could hear and hundreds of people heading in one direction, to the Dome of the Rock.
We pushed on along the path, opposite direction to 99% of the people and headed for the markets.
There were heaps of people everywhere so Deane decided to stilthily place his Arabic "need hope" cards all around the Arab quarter. Have to say I was a little nervous π however, we were encouraged to see a young man pick up a card, read it and put it in his back pocket π
We found a small local restaurant and enjoyed some lunch. π
Fueled up with some food and we headed off to the wailing wall ..
Difficult to get around after 1pm as it's Shabbat and no public transport, so we walked around for a while and headed back to the city centre and our hotel, which was about 5km!!
Found it very difficult to get dinner, most restaurants were closed!
