June/July 2023 Mission Newsletter

As planned, we arrived in Sweden the week before the wedding to help set everything up, it was great to have the family arriving over the week also.
What a blessing to see Sam & Bella get married.  ❤️  The day went off very smoothly and the weather was amazing, actually the first day without any wind which was perfect for a trip out to Godnatt Island for the ceremony.
The food was delicious, it was a very fun evening - it was special to meet many of Sam & Bella's close friends.
Workaway #1 Experience
We travelled by train to Ucklum, a small village in the Dahl Valley, 20 minutes north of Götenborg. Very rural and rather remote.
We were welcomed by Andy & Magdalina and our tippee ⛺️ accomodation! Thankfully there were no guests at the BnB so we got to stay there for the first 5 nights as we were both fighting bad flu!!
There were many jobs to do, a property tidy up was the first on the list, so Deane took off with the weed eater and Sherilyn followed with the lawn mower.  The property looked amazing - A&M were thrilled with the result at the end of the first day.
Deane then got stuck in to his next project, a deck & set of stairs off the side of the Cafe.
Sherilyn spent most of her days in the vege garden, tidying up and putting mulch around plus looking after the BnB accomodation after each lot of guests, then also helped with baking for the Cafe fika & music afternoon,  which was fun!

We got to have a look around Götenborg one day, we met many people at the BnB and of course we delivered gospel tracts to houses in the village & got to share the gospel too.

Our 1st workaway experience went really well, we even ate vegeterian for 10 days and most of it wasn't too bad 🤪🤣 .... Andy & Magda were super pleased with our efforts, they gave us a 🌟 🌟🌟🌟🌟 rating and said we had set the standard very high for all workawayers that followed!!!
Housesit #1
We moved on from Ucklum to Åstraberg, Stockholm to our first housesit.  An apartment 20 minutes on the train/tram .... 1.5 hour walk from city centre.
here we were to look after Bruce, a Blue Russian cat 🐺 and Albert & Betty, a pair of lovebirds 🦜🦜 that lived in a cage in the kitchen, the doors opened so they could have free use of the closedup kitchen!!!!
Bruce was super easy and took to Deane immediately, thankfully.
Deane made the birds super easy and kept them in the cage most of the time, we couldn't get our heads around them free flying around the kitchen, especially while we were cooking, cos they liked to sit on your head!!!!
It was great to enjoy some sunshine, city sights and a different part of Stockholm than previously.

On Sunday we went to Calvary, Stockholm church.
We enjoyed the worship music, listened to a great message on 1 Peter plus got to meet some really friendly & encouraging people.  David from Uganda & Linda, an American married to a Swedish guy 42 years.
Please pray for the 1000+ Swedish gospel tracts & literature that we have given out in the different parts of Sweden we have visited over the last 7 weeks.

We had to get innovative in Stockholm as all the apartment letterboxes are inside a locked door to the building, BUT most people have a bicycle, many with a basket, so we did a bicycle basket drop instead 🤣!!!

Please also pray for the numerous people that we have met and shared the Gospel with along the way.
Nyrbo Workaway #2 in the Forest
Our workaway was on a property in the forest, the weather was unbelievably cold for summer, Sherilyn wore thermals, leggings and jacket most of the time, while Deane carried on in his shorts & t-shirt!!!
The first day we were there a truck delivered the kitset cottage which turned out to take up most of Deanes week.  He had a couple of days help from Peter but he carried on by himself through the week, constructing the joists and underfloor insulation, no good instructions so he had to watch the Swedish YouTube to get the gist of how everything went together!!  The last day we both spent the day laying all the tongue & groove flooring.
Sherilyn got to bottle some rhubarb and elderflower syrups, the green eggs were interesting (just the shell not the inside yolk) Cleaned up the vege garden and got to weedeat around the property, then mow some lawns on the ride-on which was a bonus, Deane usually gets rideon jobs, so it was a nice change and new skill !!😃.
The forest was dark, cold, damp, oppressing and really remote - when we left we couldnt  believe how open & warm it was and how revived we felt out of the forest!!
Peter asked loads of questions about Jesus, christianity and Deanes beliefs when he & Deane worked together - please pray for him, he kept asking questions through the week and his partner was really opposed to this and us after the discussions.
We have 4 days with the family in Karlskrona before they leave for their summer camping holiday.

Where to next ....... Sunday toth July we fly to Israel and head to the Negev Desert a a 400acre sheep & cropping farm.

Please pray for safety as we travel to Israel and for continued opportunities to evangelise along the way.
