Bus Nairobi to Mombasa

Oh no, not another bus trip!

today we got on a another bus, it was a local bus, 5 seats across and no room to move SO we got off it again, there were a few upset Kenyans but the thought of being crammed and squashed for 20minutes is one thing, being crammed and squashed for 9 hours is another thing!

We found another bus, it was a local bus but only 4 seats across, still a bit dodgy BUT we went with it and in the end it turned out to be quite a lot of fun, we met and talked with many locals. one kid had chickens in the box down on the floor! Children don't pay for seats so you can have one lady with 3 kids and they have to share a seat if another passenger gets on! They do it, they don't complain and they sit like that for 4 - 5 hours! You don't hear one moan, it's just amazing but this is how they are bought up and local transport is part of their life, they know nothing else.

The closer we got to Mombasa, the hotter it got, we arrived 40 degrees and 61% humidity.

Ya, we are staying at a place with a swimming pool, couldn't wait to jump in, but it was like getting into the hot pools at Taupo!

Anyway it is nice to be off the bus and no more buses for 5 days :-)
