MUKONO MONDAY FEBRUARY 18th
Well first, apologies I have just checked the blog and the dates for the last week are all mucked up and all over the place, I will attempt to get them sorted!!!
We started off today feeling a little down and BORED!
I have a young Ugandan woman, Esther, helping with the housework – 5 days a week, which is great but then it leaves me with not much to do and Im not able to sit and read all day or do nothing, then of course I wasn’t busy so I wasn’t tired and then didn’t sleep SO guess who wasn’t feeling too great!!
Zach and Sam are also finding their lives a little “SLOW and BORING”. They are doing really well with their school work, 3 months work has been completed in the last 4 weeks, of course we will see the results once it is returned marked by the teachers - NZ$65 to end the assignments home. They are each doing a study but like me there is only so much reading you can do and it is important to keep busy and use some of that excess energy.
Anyway we ended up on a trip to Kampala – 10 of us in the 4wd drive – we then turned around and went back to get Charles to drop off at the dr’s. Ugandans would rather SQUASH IN and I mean SQUASH IN than pay shillings for a ride!! Charles was a guy Shannon picked up out of the drain 6 months ago – he had a boda boda crash and his leg was “hanging” on, Shannon picked him up put him in the vehicle and took him to the hospital, saved his life but lost his leg. Shannon then agreed Charles could live with them as long as Shannon could share the gospel with him. Of course Charles agreed. Anyway Charles was going to the dr to have the measurements done for a new leg (cant think of the word at the moment)
Anyway after an hour we were on our way, Deniece, Bri, Emma and I were dropped at Rwenzori Cafe for the day – the cafe with supposedly great internet connections – YEAH RIGHT. You just don’t believe anyone or anything when it comes to internet here in Uganda. After being logged on and off 10 or 12 times we decided to get the boda boda into Kampala City Golf Hotel for free wireless internet. Deniece had been to a conference there recently and turned on her computer and everything just updated automatically, so we snuck into the internet lounge as tho we were guests and did a heap of internet work!!!!

We walked down the road 15mins and met the guys and got a ride home – we arrived home at 7pm!!! So that was the day out, filled in and everyone was worn out!
Deane has fixed Danielles washing machine and a load is now finished within 1 hour. SOS team members are amazed at Deanes practical skills and if ANYTHING, ANYWHERE breaks down they just say – get Deane to have a look at it – it is just about a full time job for him here, especially the plumbing in the two houses – the other night the girls had water seeping through their bathroom walls, the plumber had just been and forgotten to tighten a pipe!!
