MUKONO FRIDAY FEBRUARY 15th
We packed up and headed for Luwero, to the new land and to return Betty and Patrick.
Betty and Patricks parents weren’t home, their mother had gone away with the baby for a week and the father was collecting food. A neighbour came and changed their clothes and before long they were back with their friends playing in the dirt and the jandals bought for them had been left. I guess you can take Betty and Patrick out of their culture but you can’t take their culture out of Betty and Patrick!
A great day at Luwero, to see the new land, the new road was started today and the locals were very excited. The house and ministry location was good to see – the area is very primitive and rural, very different from Mukono. It will be in to Kampala for most necessities, although local for fruit/vegetables.
Long but enjoyable day – lots of planning and decisions made regarding, the road, contacts in the area and the location of the house sites, driveways and entrances also.
MUKONO THURSDAY FEBRUARY 14th
Deane and Sam were out and about today.
Zach and I walked up to the Kubili village, we got a taxi (like a mini van) into Mukono along with 20 other people and ½ dozen chooks!! Went to the internet cafe and caught up with some stuff, but it was slow, didn’t work too great and then all our emails had disappeared. Computers not fast enough to let me download blog details or photos. Bit disappointed. We got a boda boda back – bit of a laugh – the guy drives right on the edge of the road, you think you are going to hit the bumps in the road and come off, then as you go down the hill he turns the boda off to save petrol and then you glide up the other side of the hill! Crackup!!
MUKONO WEDNESDAY FEBRUARY 13th
Deane went to Kampala and bought a vehicle – can pik up next week – Friday 22nd.
Still no internet and it wont be up and running for at least another 10 days – telecom gave Deane a card for the computer for free internet until its sorted but it was too old for our computer and there was no service, patience, patience, patience!!! Yeah right.
Dinner at our house with 19 people, good night of fellowship and encouragement – Betty and Patrick settling into life in an American house and starting to enjoy food although playing on all the attention!! Betty needed to go to the toilet so just squatted down on the floor in the hallway!!
