UGANDA, EAST AFRICA TUESDAY JANUARY 29th

At last we were here! After 3 hours to Ethiopia (which was a dry and barren land) and 1 hour on the tarmac there we had one last flight – 1.5 hours to Entebbe.
We arrived at Entebbe at 3.30pm ( 40 minutes late) to a hot sticky day but to a lush green countryside and very easy transition at the Entebbe airport. We were met and greeted by Deniece (SOS admin assistance) and Emmalyn Hurley and after getting our bags headed for our new home.
WHAT A SHOCK, I had seen all of Deane’s Uganda photos but NOTHING had prepared me for what I saw as we drove for the first 45minutes to Kampala – SHOCK DISBELIEF and a feeling of total OVERWHELMING. The culture shock was the greatest that I have EVER experienced.
Deane said that after Denise had told me and Zach there had been no internet connection for 4 weeks that we went into stunned silence and he knew it was bad when I didn’t talk for 10 minutes! Not sure what he meant by that!!
Anyway we arrived at Mukono and were thoroughly spoilt and made so welcome and met with Danielle Hurleys mum and dad (Del and Vicki, really neat couple)everyone here couldn’t have done more to make us feel welcome, they had spent a day cleaning our and preparing our house and had dinner ready for us.
It was amazing and it was great – Bri had two new friends Emmalyn and Elisa; and Zach and Sam had new friends, they didn’t even have to find them, they were staying in the house – Paul and Emanuel their age and Antony ,Charles and Edward. There are also Jotham, Christopher and Fred that come and go frequently and that are always welcoming and friendly.
Paul and Emanuel and Zach and Sam especially have clicked really well and even tho they go to boarding school which starts Monday, they return to the house frequently either after school, weekends or for school holidays.
All meals (apart from breakfast) for the first 6 days were at the Hurleys – total of 19 most meal times.
