Rahat - Bedouin Village

N..... our farm host grew up for 25 years in a local kibbutz before getting the lease of his 300ha farm from the government.  No-one in Israel owns land, everything is owned by the government and leased out.  N..... has farmed here for 40 years and is looking forward to retiring in 1.5 years.

N..... is an Israeli, he speaks Hebrew, Arabic and English.  Many of his friends and neighbours are in the nearby village a Rahat, the Westbank of this area, an Arabic village.  It is rare (and unsafe) for Israelis to go into the Bedouin village areas but N..... says he has grown up here and he knows them well and they respect each other.

Rahat was so barren and dry, mosques everywhere and the similarities to Uganda so noticeable from the roads, drivers, half finished buildings and businesses!
KFC equivalent = AFC
(Arab Fried Chicken) 🤣😂🙃

Got some fresh fruit & Veges, then visited the local halal butcher.
Sadly our favourite dates are out of season, so a box was rather expensive

Impressed by the size of the eggplants 😋  and even tempted to buy some cheap cube roll from Paraguay,  but didn't.

We got to see a very different part of Israel that most tourists/visitors wouldn't see.
