We arrived at the ferry landing at 11am ready for the ferry ride out to the historic Swedish fortress - a mighty fortified tower on a tiny island in the sea off Karlskrona, which was intended to defend the entrance to the naval port.
The fortified tower with the soothing name God Natt (Good night) was built from 1857 to 1863 for military security of the port entrance.
The tower, located next to the main fairway in about 1 kilometers in front of the naval port, is considered the last construction of a castle keep.Keeps were widespread fortifications in Europe in the form of massive tower with an extremely reinforced masonry since the Middle Ages. Usually they were part of a castle or fortress, in some cases they stand alone.
Five couples from Karlskrona had won the opportunity to celebrate their wedding at this historic island, Sam & Bella obviously, with only 12 people per wedding couple allowed on the ferry & island.
The day was glorious, sun was shining-it was warmer than expected, with no wind and the sea was calm. The inside of the building was rather cold but it was amazing to see and hear the history.
The wedding went off perfectly and we all headed back to Sam & Bella's house where 20 of their family & friends were waiting for the reception
