CENTRE LEASE ENDS

Early June we cleared out the Centre of food (to home) and clothing (we gave our regular contacts first choice, then Deane met two Africans and they were more than happy to take clothes left to their Church)

It was great we had some friends from a local Italian church buy most of the furniture!  We were able to donate some of the older things to friends and refugees.  We cleaned out the Centre building and handed over the keys in the midlle of June.

Bivona (the owner of the building) was more upset that he may not see us again, that the fact that we didn't renew the building lease!

GREAT DECISION

In the first 10 days without the Centre, we met & talked with more people on the street than we had met & talked to at the centre in an entire month .... so it certainly was a great decision to not renew the lease!

We have handed out Italian and Bangladesh christian tracts and talked with many people on the streets of Palermo.

We have been in contact with a NZ missionary in Catania, Andrew Diprose, he has given us resources in native African, Bengali and Arabic for smartphone use with our refugees/migrants.

This is fantastic as we can now forward on The Jesus Film, The King of Glory film and Creation to Revelation in many languages ... it is also so encouraging for the refugees/migrants to listen to their native language.

I am Osewe from Edo State, Nigeria.  I thank God for my life today because when I was in Nigeria I was not a christian.

I move with some boys around the city so they introduce me into bad things.  We move around the city looking for girls to pass a night with.  So the things was too much for me that one day I said to myself that I have to stop all this!

So I decided to tell them that I can't live such a life anymore because of that they were angry with me - they would always like to fight me, that was how I decide to leave the country so I got to Libya.  It was not easy for me, I pass through hell before I was able to get here in Italy.

In Italy they took me to Bambino camp so I always thank God everyday - I wake up in the camp before they transfer me to adult camp.  When I got there I started doing fasting & prayers at that point of praying God show me something that I am going to travel but I didn't know.  I think of going out from Italy but one date I travelled to france.  I started smoking again, drinking so I go back to my former lifestyle - one day I was telling God that I don't really like this lifestyle,  God made me understand that I am not the owner of my life or body, that if I come to him he will save me from the hand of the enemies.

That was how i started serving God and today ma happy that am in the hands of God - that is my story!

CATANIA TEAM VISIT TO DO STREET EVANGELISM

It was really encouraging to have Josh & Andrew with their team of 4 Africans come to Palermo for a couple of days to do Street Evangelism with Deane, Hadim, Temple, Lucky and Osewe.
They met for lunch each day, a time of encouragement together before talking to many people on the streets.
Nigerian Church - Nelson & Nnenna

Deane got invited to speak and encourage the people at Nelson's Nigerian church last Sunday .....  we were able to help them with a box of English bibles and some foodbags as well.  It was great to meet some new people and also to share from Gods word .. Isaiah 45 v 22 Turn to me and be saved, all the ends of the earth!  For I am God and there is no other.
We escaped the noise of Palermo city for a couple of days to celebrate Sherilyn's birthday and our 29th wedding anniversary - both of which landed in the middle of lockdown!
We went to a place on the west coast of Sicily called San Vito La Capo - beautiful scenery, beaches and so quiet!  Thankfully the normal amount of tourists werent there yet!   The seafood place of the island, it was great to try different fish and local Sicilian dishes ... feeling inspired to buy some local veges & fruit to try make them at home!
