Today Thursday we met with a young couple that work with the Nigerian refugees that have been trafficked here. They have arrived here with a huge debt, sometimes as much as €30,000 with a Nigerian Juju (curse) placed on them! If they do not repay the debt either their families back in Nigeria or themselves will be harmed or die because of this curse!
There are also many very young women trafficked in from Eastern Europe.
This organisation heads out to talk and build relationships with these women that "work legally"
Again the stories are unimaginable and unbelievable - it's hard to even think I will remember the details, but again for the protection of everyone I can't go into details on this post.
There are a couple of areas in the town where bad things happen but not even the police will go to theses areas!!
Just to say it was a fantastic opportunity to meet these people who are doing amazing things to help these women trafficked on the streets. They only work at a couple of areas in the city and 80-100 women. They have come to realise they can't change the world but hopefully by caring, encouraging & sharing with these women, they can help somehow to change individual lives, one at a time.
