Saturday we headed along the coast, we drove inland to Modica, had a look around there. The scenery on the way is amazing (so much like Africa) it is so dry & barren, houses scattered all over the hills and then random little towns with heaps of high rise homes, the bridges & motorways are miles high above deep gullies, where more houses are and then it's like dessert for miles, lots of farms, with stone walls & cattle sheds. lots of large round bales of hay, you wonder how the cattle survive in such heat, saw some sheep two and two farmers watching over them!!
Went into Ragusa and had a look around, unavailable to catch up with the ministry there, but that was ok we had changed our plans and I wasn't feeling too well,it was hot and dry. The city streets just go for miles up and down, good work out, no gym needed if you lived there is all I can say!!!! Again heaps of history and amazing old buildings and town centre.
Stopped and got some lunch from the supermarket on the way, made me feel even worse, not sure if it was the hamburger I ate, the water I drank, too much sun, the roads & car sickness or a combination of all 4 but all I can say is I was hoping to find a hotel sooner than later as I wasn't looking forward to making Deane stop on the highway!!!!
Well we made it over to Scala dei Turchi, on the coast up on a hill, found a hotel and I wasn't too much fun - I was really sick & went to bed for the afternoon.
Later on then went to the shopping mall, found some ginger beer, unbelievable really, it looked like the bottle we knew, we took a guess, no idea what the Italian words said BUT it was ginger beer/ dry gingerale and that really helped to settle me!
