Cool beach but SO funny - most of the beaches are private and you have to pay to go on them, there are hundreds of little blue/white sheds that people own or rent to keep all their beach gear in, so that when they go to the beach they don't have to lug all the beach chairs, umbrellas etc with them.
You can also hire chairs for €10 in another private area.
The lifeguards here would never survive at the beaches in Hawkes Bay. The bouys were only out 50 metres and the lifeguards were walking up and down the beach blowing their whistle to anyone who was out to a depth that was only up to their knees, ridiculous you couldn't even catch a wave!!!!! The water was warm and we got to swim in the Tyrrhenian Sea 😊
