Meeting Nelson

Monday we navigated our way across Palermo old town for 2.5kms ( we hardly even got lost - there is this great app called POCKET EARTH - if you download the city map and the directions from one place to another while you have wi-fi, then once you are offline the app still works unless of course you divert from the map at any stage!!!)  to meet with Nelson who is a Nigerian Pastor, a migrant in Palermo that has a heart for missions, he has served in Libya, Norway, Germany, Kenya sharing the love of Jesus Christ with many people of all religions.
Imprisoned in Libya for teaching Gods word, he has great faith and his testimony is one we are hoping to record on the iPad  to share when we get back to NZ.

Just like any church in any country there are many challenges that this ministry faces, renting a church building, counselling traumatised people, helping feed  and cloth church people, discipline and counselling traumatised people.   There are so many opportunities here, we feel very excited at what we have seen so far, we talked about the community dinner and Nelson was SO excited that the same thing could be done here in Palermo.

Spent a few hours with Nelson before leaving and getting caught in a thunderstorm with torrential rain - took 20 mins under the cover of an old arch for rain to top and sun to come out again scorching!   Walked thru the famous Balloro markets, had street food for lunch - fruit, vegetables, meat and just about anything you want are available at these markets.

Headed down to the waterfront and walked in the sun watching the ferry come in- not great here for swimming as there are huge break water walls all along the edge, because it is close to the Port but enjoyed some fresh air and sunshine! and it's 28 degrees 😊😊
