Bagheria Refugee home

Today we travelled 30 minutes east of Palermo to Bagheria, not far from the ocean.  Cute town with many apartments and extremely narrow streets.

We went o the first Refugee house for men - the men there were from Senegal and Mali so didn't speak English.

I can't get over how these Refugee houses are just everywhere, they are located in random rural areas away from people and homes, yet you go to another place and the building is located smack bang in the middle of an Italian city where people are living. It's bizarre but it's also great that the refugees seem to have some flexibility and freedom to come & go - each house has its own "person in charge" who has to be consulted before any refugee can leave to go for a walk or to town!

This is a photo of the men's Refugee house.
