We headed out to Mukono today driving thru all the old places and remembering all the shortcuts to avoid the traffic, still not always avoiding the many potholes or traffic.
Some of the roads have improved BUT guess what, we got pulled over by the traffic police again, this time it was a good experience:-) In 2008 we needed a NZ drivers licence and the International licence was unnecessary, today we needed an international licence (which we don't have) and the NZ licence was unnecessary!!! Thankfully the officer was friendly and we were able to talk our way through it.
It felt like four years hasn't even passed - everything was so familiar. Even had to have the maize roasted over coals on the side of the road.
We drove passed Kubili, our old village, then Mama Marks house.
