Just another day ................

Well after 6 trips to the visa office in Kampala in the last three weeks, we were pleased to be able to go and get our passports back , a little scary actually as they wont do anything without the passports, of course they never lose any they told me, as the man in the next window was telling Daniel they had "lost" his passport!!! (since found thankfully for him)
So with our passports in our hot hands PHEW!! we got a receipt for the visa permit fees and we headed off across the courtyard to the next office to get the stamps in our passports. (NOT)
Oh no the man said, you need to take the receipt and the money to the bank 200metres up the road. OK so Deane and I thought we would go for a walk, only the 200metres was actually 2 kilometres up the hill in the middle of a hot sunny day. (I was thinking the kids will be so glad they decided to stay at home!)
Got to the bank, paid the money and then had to go to the other side of the bank to get the next receipt!! Only to be told by someone in the queue they had paid their money 2 hours ago (by this time it was 3.30pm, not looking promising)
Down to PAPS for a cold iced chocolate and cold iced coffee (remember that yummy drink Maria?) for a break and then back to the bank by 4.30pm. (5pm closing time)
4.50pm still no receipt and there was a large pile sitting on the desk so Deane decided there was no way we were coming back and asked the lady to check the pile, guess what our receipts were in the pile!!!
2 minutes to go and to get to the visa office to take the bank receipt to have our passports stamped!!! you guessed it 5pm rush hour in Kampala and 2 kilometres no way!!!

Daniel was at the office and asked if the offices were opened Saturday, yes of course, so it looked like one more trip and it would all be over
NOT
Saturday 10am we arrived at the offices, offices closed on weekends, so we are heading back at the end of the week so that we can finalise ours and collect Daniels
watch this space......................

Well I can now report after returning on the tuesday to get the passports stamped, we had to leave them for 2 days to process....... back Thursday to collect them and they were done, YIPPEE in the car showing Deane and guess what, one was signed and the other wasnt! Back to the office and thankfully the lady was extremely helpful and signed it on the spot.
