Fortunately for us the Graingers, our Pastor Donald Stevenson (referred by Kelso and Bri as "Gigger Snakenson") had been invited by SOS to come as one of the main speakers for the conference, so we got to see him and spend some time with him and the Wharries that visited at the same time on their way to Zambia.
It was heaps of fun, loads of laughs and a great encouragement to us all to have them stay. We spent a couple of nights in luxury at Mukono before heading to the hardships of life at village Kubamitwe.
We were back and forward most of the week, we even did a mercy mission trip to Kampala with Tim Borrell, from Placeretta Baptist in California, he had come with Scott Ardavanis and unfortunately got sicker and sicker every day until on the Tuesday we picked him up and off to the hospital in Kampala. The diagnosis was severe diahorrea and dehydration, he certainly was not a well man, but the dr's looked after him, got him some antibiotics and a drip into him, but he was then ordered to bedrest and some tlc for the rest of the week, no more time at the conference for Tim.
We made it out most days to hear Donald and Scott preach and enjoyed some of the
singing and programme, also spent a bit of time talking and encouraging the cooks. It
was interesting to see and hear how the Conference can impact the lives of
the Reverends, Pastors and Layreaders from the local Anglican churches.
