Majors to the Rainforest & SOS Church

Saturday it was raining when we got up so we huddled under the outdoor sunshade thingy and cooked toast and coffee on the coal burner (takes about 1 hour to organize toast/coffee for everyone!)
Much to Simon and Alex’s disappointment we were unable to stay longer or to fit them in the vehicle to take them back to Mukono with us, so we left and headed home for lunch and a bit of R & R, a rest was certainly needed, also James was a little fluey with travel and change of weather etc I think. We left home at 5.00pm and headed out for dinner to the Rainforest Lodge in the jungle, 45 minutes on the road to Jinja. We arrived and took everyone for a look around and then the Manager took us to the table he had setup down on the outside terrace part of the restaurant looking out into the jungle and kept us warm with a huge open fire pit in the front of the table. We were then served dinner, a 6 course meal over the evening. A very enjoyable evening out before heading home, which is always a little scary on the roads here because there are NO lines down the middle or on the side of the road and it is always unknown as to what you may come across or what the other drivers might decide to do!! A good experience of night driving tho, aye James!!! Sunday was a busy day of fellowship firstly at church then over lunch at the Hurleys and a quick rest in the afternoon before visitors arrived and a huge thunderstorm. We were pleased as we were hoping the Majors would experience a good storm before they left. Bea and Laura had brought a heap of gifts, stickers, pencils etc to give out at the village, but we hadn’t done it at Kubamitwe so they and Bri went down to the local village kids at Kubili, Mukono and gave all the bits and pieces out. They then got caught in this huge downpour and watched lightening and heard the cracking thunder. It was so funny the next day as we were traveling out through the village we saw lots of the kids with the stickers the girls had given out stuck on their foreheads!!! Deane James and I met and chatted with Danielle and Shannon after dinner while Bea and Laura boosted the numbers at youthgroup held in our house.
